Salisbury International Arts Festival and Shaw Trust joined forces to create Salisbury’s Biggest Ever Dinner Party as part of the wider scheme Dinner4Good. This brand new event saw people from across the city holding dinner parties in their own homes using local or home grown ingredients and asking guests to donate to the two charities who help local young and disadvantaged people to flourish.
One of this year’s biggest parties was hosted by Cindy Demain-Griffiths of Salisbury, who invited a grand total of 25 people to her house for dinner and raised over £200 for the two charities.
Cindy said “Planning my Dinner4Good was so easy with the help of recipes from the Festival Office. We kept it simple and made something suggested by the Festival office with rice which was also supplied by the Festival. Inviting my friends online worked really well for some and others were given a printed invite. I told everyone right up front that it was a fundraising dinner so there was no problem with collecting the money.
It was a bit daunting at first trying to sort out the logistics of the meal but once we had worked out which bowls we were going to use it all went like clockwork. Though I did forget to put the fresh coriander on the curry at the last minute!
I will definitely do this again as it was a really enjoyable evening.”
Salisbury International Arts Festival and Shaw Trust would like to thank Cindy and everyone who took part in Salisbury’s Biggest Ever Dinner Party.
