8pm, Thursday 05 July, Salisbury Arts Centre

Nuri Bilge Ceylon. 2007. 101 Mins. Cert 15.

Directed by the award winning director of Uzak, Climates is contemplative, emotionally powerful film set against the changing seasons. A portrait of a man profoundly out of touch with his innermost self, this exquisitely observed story opens with a couple - played to perfection by the director and his wife - just minutes away from a painful break up. Using a minimum of naturalistic dialogue, breathtaking compositions and occasional splashes of mordant humour, Ceylan examines the dark side of love with a fierce, cold brilliance.

Climates has received rave reviews wherever it has played, drawing comparisons with Antonioni, Bergman and Woody Allen, and is one of the few films ever to receive a full six out of six star rating from Time Out.

****** SUBTLE, SUBSTANTIAL AND SUBLIMELY BEAUTIFUL... ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING CINEMATIC TALENTS TO EMERGE IN RECENT YEARS - TIME OUT
