In Spring 2010 free tile making workshops were held for groups in the Laverstock Parish led by professional artists Charlotte Moreton & Mirka Golden-Hann.

The tiles are really effective but very simple to make. People of all ages can have a go and tiles can be as simple or complex as you want.

So why not try tile making with your community group, school class or even at home. Our resource pack describes using terracotta clay which needs to be fired in a kiln, but you could always have a go with air dry clay which will be available at all good craft shops.

If you fancy making your own tiles have a look at the attached easy-to-follow resource pack

In Lavertsock Parish we made over 100 terracotta tiles featuring flora and fauna which were used to make a Walk On The Wildside uncovering the tiles and some of the beautiful nature.
