Vigo Recreation Ground, Andover

Vigo Recreation Ground Park is in the heart of Andover and withinthe ward of St Mary’s, the second most deprived ward in Test Valley.  Set near the centre of the town centre this 2.03 hectare park contains a large grassed area, mature shrub and tree planting and sensory beds.  Linked to the theme of growing, the council and Transition Town Andover are constructing a new Community Food Bed in the park. 

Nature of Art In Wessex is planning to run the Vigo Stepping Stones project with Test Valley Borough Council and Transition Town Andover.  The project will work with 6 groups from St Mary’s Ward and around Vigo Recreation Ground, offering workshops led by Mosaic artist Joanna Dewfall, making stepping stones for the Vigo Park Community Food Bed.

The Stepping Stones will be unveiled at a Community Day at Vigo Park coinciding with the planting of the beds. We also hope to lead a drop in mosaic workshop at this event, working towards a communal mosaic for the park.
