Mallow sculpture

The Mallow (2008)

This 8 metre-high sculpture can be viewed from Equinox Drive (there is no direct access).

Growing in profusion on the chalkland of Solstice Park, the Common Mallow provided inspiration while aircraft materials were used for construction.

The nose cone, or spinner, of a Beagle Bulldog aircraft forms the centre of the flower.

The Mallow was part of Natural England’s Living River project, engaging with communities around the River Avon catchment area.

The Mallow was officially unveiled by Cllr Dennis Brown, The Mayor of Amesbury on 24th June 2007, along with its companion piece, a Yew tree bench made with pupils from Stonehenge School.
