It represents the landscape of the River Avon as it meanders from Amesbury to Salisbury and was the third piece for Natural England’s Living River project, based around the River Avon catchment area. 105 vertical steel poles, ranging from 90cm to 2m tall, undulate along a 30m length and out line the shape of the region’s most outstanding features, including Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral. A river bed of napped flint inset with blue road studs represents the sparkling water.
The sculpture was unveiled by Robert Key MP on 10th September 2009.
