Four Seasons Poetry Competition

Four Seasons

We asked young people from Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire to write a poem of up to 14 lines about one or all of the four seasons, inspired by Vivaldi’s music and the sonnets he wrote to go with them.

In a coup for the Festival, the competition was judged for us by former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion who is known for his commitment to working with young people. The winning poems were included in the programme for the 25 May 2010 concert by the European Chamber Orchestra, when Andrew Motion read his own four new sonnets, specially commissioned, inspired by the seasons.
